About Vundi
Private safari guide, Botswana
Vundi, born in Botswana’s Etsha village near the Okavango Delta, discovered his passion for the wilderness through early tracking lessons with his grandfather, who taught him to identify horses by their unique tracks. His commitment to conservation began unexpectedly when he attended a presentation on Botswana’s flora and fauna with a friend. While the first lesson was unremarkable, a screening of the documentary Wildlife Warriors by Dereck and Beverly Joubert profoundly inspired him, igniting a lifelong dedication to the wilderness.
Although initially destined for teachers’ college, a trip into the bush convinced Vundi to follow his newfound calling. He trained as a guide at the Okavango Wilderness Safaris Guiding School and launched his career at Jao Camp, where he worked for nearly seven years. Over the following years, Vundi honed his expertise at Kwando Safaris, Unchartered Africa Safaris in the Makgadikgadi salt pans, and later, Great Plains Conservation in the Okavango Delta.
Vundi’s journey led him to establish a guiding style that offers guests deeply personal and unique experiences, showcasing the Africa’s beauty and wildlife. Through his work, Vundi remains committed to sharing the magic of Africa’s wilderness, shaped by his enduring passion for conservation and adventure.
